🌀 Haumea Ecoversity: Join me LIVE tomorrow? Plus, an unexpected cameo…
Published 5 months ago • 3 min read
✨Haumea Ecoversity Community Membership is now OPEN✨
Hello Reader
What a relief to finally share the Haumea Ecoversity launch with you all! After sending my email out yesterday, I felt compelled to hop on Instagram yesterday—nerves and all—to show my face and talk about the excitement unfolding. Walking through our small wood (the site of my Hollywood Forest Story and inspiration for my ongoing ecological art practice) gave me the confidence I needed, especially when my sweet sighthound Connie decided to make an on-camera cameo. She’s quite the ambassador—elegant and friendly, exactly what I needed in that moment!
I think I'll be doing more reels from the wood with Connie, Della and the trees :)
I’m so grateful for your shares, private messages, and WhatsApp feedback. I appreciate the support and how many of you want to see Haumea Ecoversity thrive. Despite my modest marketing reach, it’s incredible to see new members already signing up for the Haumea Ecoversity Community—proof that many of us are ready to bring ecoliteracy to our creative work. People have asked for more details, so I’m hosting a free LIVE Call tomorrow, Sunday 5 January at 7 pm (Irish/BST), 8 pm (EU), and 2 pm (PST) (check worldtimebuddy.com if you’re elsewhere). During the call, I’ll walk you through the membership and answer any questions you may have. If you have joined us before, do drop in to hear how Haumea is developing too.
For instance, someone recently asked if I could write a letter to support her art grant application for joining Haumea Ecoversity this year. I’m happy to do that—I’ve provided letters before for those applying for Arts Act, Agility, and bursary awards, especially if they’re studying or mentoring with us. Just hit “reply” if you’d like to discuss this or anything else.
If you’re in Ireland experiencing Orange/Red Weather alerts, why not make a warm cuppa and join us online? There will be a special bonus for everyone who attends!
Ready to explore everything the Haumea Ecoversity Community offers?
Visit the membership page for full details on joining (the green button below) to join or support Haumea Ecoversity.
We’re eager to welcome you into our growing community! (Places are limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment. Offer ends at midnight, Monday 6 January 2025 BST.)

🐾 Connie sends her greetings, too!
PPS Please forward this email to a friend who might be interested. Thank you! I am happy to do this and have previously supplied letters to others who've been applying to arts act, agility and bursary awards. Just hit 'reply' to
Haumea Ecoversity, founded by Dr Cathy Fitzgerald in 2019, opened as a pioneering peer-to-peer ecoliteracy learning platform on 3 January 2025. Our mission is to empower emerging and mid-career creatives and cultural professionals with holistic, transformative ecoliteracy—enabling them to address environmental and social challenges through deep ecological awareness.
Drawing on Cathy’s Hollywood Forest Story (initiated in 2008), her doctoral research The Ecological Turn (NCAD, 2018), and post-doctoral studies—supported by the Irish Arts Council—with Earth Charter International (UNESCO Chair for Education for Sustainable Development, ESD), Haumea Ecoversity champions a global shift in learning aligned with life-sustaining ecological realities. Collaborating with philosopher Dr Nikos Patedakis (DangerousWisdom.org, California), we have developed innovative, peer-to-peer courses grounded in ecoliteracy and the UNESCO-endorsed Earth Charter’s holistic principles. These courses have supported creatives and cultural professionals across diverse fields, helping them engage more effectively with their communities and audiences.
By 2024, over 360 creatives have participated in our courses, forming a vibrant, growing community of eco-creative practice. Many have become learning leaders, benefiting audiences and communities in Ireland and internationally—with some gaining recognition and support from Creative Ireland, Irish Arts Offices, the Irish Arts Council, and other organisations abroad.
We believe integrated values education and ecoliterate creativity are crucial to fostering equitable, sustainable, and peaceful societies. Stay connected for tips, eco-creative news, and updates as we continue catalysing this vital shift in creative education—supporting personal, collective, planetary, and intergenerational well-being.
