It has been a very special time for me over the last year, as my husband Martin Lyttle, such a long-time supporter of my work since I met him in 2000, once a technical engineering geologist, worked toward his first Solo stone sculpture exhibition Cornucopia?, now on at the O'Connell Fine Art-Craft Gallery until 17 Oct (gallery closed on Mondays).

Our thanks to people close to Martin who have supported his move from a geologist career into stone sculpture, like Aosdana stone sculptor member, Eileen MacDonagh, sculpture outdoor-indoor curator Richie Scott and the late Hazel Allen of the Ballymaloe sculpture show, our dear fellow Haumea Ecoversity members, friends and family, not to mention Stephen O'Connell of O'Connell Gallery who invited Martin to share a new body of work. It always takes courage to share work, and even more so in your first solo show - thanks to all who helped Martin.

​Martin has fully embraced ecoliteracy adventures through stone sculpture and in his everday life -see his philosophy page, in helping me transform a monoculture tree plantation into our beloved Hollywood forest community that surrounds our home, giving so much expertise and bringing scientific colleagues to make the smallest remnant of raised bog in the SE of Ireland, to make Little Drummin Bog shine, becoming a founding member of County Carlow Environmental Network, and active member of Form Design Made in Carlow and plunging into the world of online learning with Haumea Ecoversity.

It doesn't seem that long ago when myself and my philosopher co-facilitator Nikos launched Haumea Ecoversity during the first week of lockdown here in Ireland in early 2020. The panic I felt trying out Zoom, and Martin was there handling the tech for us all, his steady way, his interest in all the topics we were exploring, not to mention the wide network of companions we have fostered through this rewarding heart-soul work the length of Ireland and beyond.

It has been a delight and quite a bit of work to gather Martin's work for his new website, to see Martin’s good friend Cormac Larkin spin his graphic and video skills to bring people into Martin's world and dusty studio.
