Greetings to Haumea Ecoversity Newsletter Followers:
We hope you are well in these times of storms and floods in Ireland, and challenges everywhere.
As we approach Imbolc, Brigid’s time of returning light and early spring, I wanted to share something quietly important.
It’s always a special moment when we open the doors to Haumea Ecoversity for new members. This year, it feels especially well-timed.
Taking January slowly
January 2026 marks one year since Haumea Ecoversity became a membership ecoliteracy and values-based learning community.
Building on the ecoliteracy and Earth Charter courses we’ve been developing since 2019, I worked closely with Founding Members through mid to late 2024. We then opened the membership, Haumea Ecoversity, for lifelong transformative ecoliteracy and Earth-aligned values-based learning and community on 3 January 2025, thirty years to the day since I arrived in Ireland.
(If you are new to my newsletter, Ireland is the home of my great-grandparent ancestors.I grew up in Aotearoa New Zealand. And Haumea, the name of this work, refers to the Earth Goddess/God associated with creativity and harvest, known across the Pacific Ocean region).
Over the course of 2025, holding Haumea Ecoversity and facilitating learning and connections for members, something became clearer.
Haumea Ecoversity is moving more deeply with the seasons, not the market.
That is why we chose not to open new places during the false busyness of New Year offers and resolutions, a time when many of us, if we listen honestly, need rest and retreat.
Learning with the seasons, not the market
As our learning has become more intentionally organised around Celtic seasonal and cross-quarter festivals, a deeper alignment has emerged, one that current members have also named and appreciated.
Imbolc, with its shared themes of renewal, tending, and increasing light, feels like the right threshold to invite new people in.
Is Haumea Ecoversity for you?
If you are seeking clarity, connection, and ethical grounding in response to today’s intertwined ecological and social challenges, this may be for you.
If surface-level education no longer satisfies, and learning on your own feels slow, confusing, or heavy, you are not wrong.
Haumea Ecoversity is a gentle but rigorous, informal, higher-education learning community for creative and cultural professionals, educators, change-makers, rewilders, and researchers who want to grow ecological literacy, confidence, and care together.
Joining us may be a good fit for you if:
• You want carefully curated learning pathways, clear guidance, and warm peer support, rather than more scattered information.
• You sense that higher education, cultural policy, or short eco-courses have not gone far enough to meet the depth of today’s challenges.
• You are open tolifelong unlearning and re-learning, and feel drawn to re-enchant learning and creativity.
• You want your work, your creativity, to move beyond extractivist and individualistic habits, and reconnect with care for your place, heritage, Earth’s community of life, and future generations.
• You sometimes feel isolated or uncertain in this work, and long for thoughtful, committed companions along the way.
How we’re learning in the coming months
Our holistic, transformative learning syllabus is live and continues to evolve in response to community needs and current concerns.
At the moment, we are intentionally moving slowly. Practising compassion. Clarifying intentions. Safeguarding our energy.
This slower pace helps us face the realities of these times with honesty, while sustaining the diverse creative, educational, and facilitation work many of us are carrying.
We offer self-paced learning alongside warm, informal twice-monthly Salons, which also respondto current events, shared inquiry, and creative practice. These are linked to modular material and supported by different learning pathways.
Some members dip in and out. Others use Haumea Ecoversity as a steady resource.
All of our learning from self-paced modules and twice-monthly Salons (via Zoom) is fostering an emergent community of eco-creative practice.

If these words resonate, you’re warmly invited to explore Haumea Ecoversity. You can read more about the membership and see whether this feels like a good next step for you.
Places are limited, and we recommend joining before mid-February to settle into orientation and early spring offerings • Membership prices remain unchanged from 2025, in recognition of the financial pressures many are facing • A reduced rate is available for annual membership, with two months free • Four 1-to-1 private mentoring places with myself are available this season
An unexpected turn toward the light feels like a good place to begin. If you have any further queries, do email me.
